From Congenital Defects to Injuries: Our Orthopedic Care for Your Pets

At our veterinary clinic, we provide not only general care for your pets but also specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic problems that can affect animals. Orthopedic issues can arise in pets of all ages, including young animals. In these younger individuals, congenital defects are the most common problems, often influenced by genetic factors. These defects can lead to improper growth and development of bones and joints. Among the most prevalent conditions are hip and elbow dysplasia, which can significantly impact the mobility and quality of life of our four-legged friends. However, with early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, we can help animals maintain a healthy and functional musculoskeletal system.

Only Congenital Defects? Not So!

Orthopedic problems in animals encompass more than just congenital defects. Musculoskeletal injuries are also quite common and often arise from accidents or unfortunate movements. For instance, tears of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee frequently affect both young and older animals. This injury usually occurs during rapid movements or as a result of degenerative changes in the knee joint in older individuals.

When an animal faces this issue, it often experiences pain, limping, and a reluctance to move. Consequently, surgical intervention is frequently necessary to stabilize the knee joint and enable the animal to resume its normal activities.

Another prevalent issue, particularly in smaller dog breeds, is patellar luxation. This condition arises when the patella, or kneecap, dislocates from its standard position, leading to pain and difficulty in walking. Animals with this problem may show various symptoms, and if not treated promptly, their condition can deteriorate significantly.

So, what is the goal of the clinic?

Our primary goal at the veterinary clinic is not only to treat existing orthopedic issues but also to actively prevent such problems, enabling our four-legged companions to lead fulfilling and active lives by your side for as long as possible. If you suspect an orthopedic problem with your pet, do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you and your animals.
